Dan is a 6th Viatori (degree black belt) in Viam Chao, and has a very technical, analytical teaching style. His specialty is striking, but judo is his favorite aspect of martial arts.
In 2008, he began formulating the structure and concepts of Viam Chao under the mentorship of his instructor, Bruce Corrigan, who holds several black belts in various arts.

As a former TACP in the US Air Force, he also believes in hard work, which shows in his approach to martial arts. He doesn’t believe in easy promotions, so you will work for your ranks.
BIOGRAPHY:
Dan has been doing martial arts since the age of 15. Beginning first with Taishu-bido karate, he has also studied Jeet Kune Do, Tae Kwon Do, catch wrestling, boxing, filipino martial arts, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, and sambo. He has also competed in professional mixed martial arts. He created Viam Chao under the mentorship of Sifu Bruce Corrigan, who holds several black belts in various arts.
PROFESSIONAL LIFE:
Dan currently focuses on continued development of the Loricism philosophy, art, and writing.
Dan’s first gym opened in 1999 in Casper, Wyoming. Since then he has studied martial arts in Upstate New York, Tennessee, Montreal, Seattle, and Colorado.
If Kyoshi Dan can teach me, he can teach anybody. He is the best human being I’ve ever met.
